Mark 2:22   ^“No one puts new wine into old ^[k]wineskins; otherwise the [fermenting] wine will [expand and] burst the skins, and the wine is lost as well as the wineskins. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”

Jesus is making a point that if we are going to be led into new truth by the Holy Spirit, then we must be pliable to be able to stretch our thinking.

Due to the oral traditions/ religious traditions of the Pharisees, they were already completely expanded to their limit of thinking and could not grasp any further ideas.

 This parable teaches that Jesus’ new, transformative message cannot be contained within, or combined with, old, rigid religious traditions.

Jesus’s presence brings a new, celebratory era that cannot fit into the old, legalistic framework of the religious tradition.

Jesus came to bring a new covenant of grace and a radical, inner transformation of heart and mind, which cannot be patched into the old system of religious traditions.

Jesus, His teachings, and His kingdom representing the new wine and the Pharisees with their man-made religious regulations representing the old wine and wineskins.

The old wineskin has assumed a definite shape and is no longer pliable. It is fixed and somewhat brittle
